Ardeo Quartet / Chamber Music

Wesneday August 13 | 9.00 PM  / Church of Audrix

Anton Webern - Langsamer Satz : Slow movement for string quartet
Maurice Ravel - Quartet in F major op 35
Franz Schubert - Quartet N°14 in D minor D 810 ″Death  and the Maiden″

The Ardeo Quartet was created in 2001. Several international prizes: International competition for string quartet in Bordeaux and Moscow, International competition for chamber music in Melbourne reward its exceptional quality.
The quartet has performed in major concert halls in Paris: Cité de la Musique, Palais d’Orsay, Théâtre du Chatelet, Centre Georges Pompidou, and in other renowned festivals in France and abroad: Festival de Radio France in Montpellier, Folles Journées in Nantes, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Beethovenfestspiel in Berlin.

The slow movement for quartet by Anton Webern is one of his first works, tonal music, still largely influenced by the XIX’th century composers.
The quartet by Ravel is his first chamber music piece dedicated to his master Gabriel Fauré.
The slow movement in the Schubert quartet expresses poignantly the theme of the death.
