Saint-Saëns wrote this work for a Shrove Tuesday concert.
This work takes place in a French tradition of musical pastiche as an animal like description.

Francis Blanche wrote texts as a humoristic introduction to every episode.

All the animals are invited to participate in this beautiful party: the Lion, the Hens, the Tortoises, the Elephant, the Kangaroos, the Donkey, the Swan, the Cuckoo and other Birds, the Fishes, and then the Pianists and the Fossils

Frank Hamon : Narrator, a comedian from the village of Audrix
Benjamin Lévy : Percussions First Prize winner in the Lyon CNSM (Conservatoire national supérieur de Musique), founder of the Orchestre de Chambre Pelléas. Currently director of the Provence Côte d’Azur Orchestra. He will play Marimba and Glockenspiel to give rhythm to the Saint-Saëns Carnival.
Constance Morvan: Clarinet. She plays in the Das Sinfonie Orchester Berlin and the Opera di Studio “Silvio Varviso”.
Strings and piano quartet: Jean-Michel Dayez – Piano, Pablo Schatzman – Violin,
Clément Courtin –Alto, Guillaume Lafeuille – Cello.
