Quatuor Ardeo | Chamber Music

Joseph Haydn: Quartet op. 33 N°3 "The Bird"
Felix Mendelssohn: Quartet op. 12 N°1
Ludwig van Beethoven: Quartet op. 59 N°3

The quartet op. 33 N°3 by Haydn was given the surname "The Bird" because of both themes in the first movement, and moreover because of the trio in the second movement. Also, one can hear the cuckoo in the final Presto.
In the quartet op. 12 N°1 by Mendelssohn, an early work, the influence of Beethoven is evident; particularly the final movement contains a theme of the "Les Adieux" Sonata.
The quartet op. 59 N°3 by Beethoven was sometimes qualified as "Heroic Quartet".

Created in 2001, the Ardeo Quartet appears as one the most renowned French formations. Several international prizes: International competition for string quartet in Bordeaux and Moscow, Premio Paolo Borciani in Bologna, International competition for chamber music in Melbourne, reward its exceptional quality.
The quartet has performed in major concert halls in Paris: Cité de la Musique, Palais d’Orsay, Théâtre du Chatelet, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris Philharmony, and abroad: Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Barbican Center in London, Beethovenfestspiel in Berlin.
It participates in Festival de Radio France in Montpellier, Folles Journées in Nantes and in Japan.
